How early in the planning process should I book a wedding photographer?

We recommend booking at least 8-10 months in advance, however if your wedding date is sooner, feel free to give us a call as we may still be available! Weekends & public holidays obviously book up the fastest, in which case it might be better to book as far as 12-18 months in advance.

What should I look for in a wedding photographer?

Most importantly, you need to love the style of photography; you should feel a connection with the images. Take a good look at all the photographer’s work (both wedding & non-wedding images). You should also meet your photographer. They’re one of the few people who’ll be with you throughout the entire day, so you want to make sure you’re completely comfortable with whomever you choose, & that they don’t overpower the day.

The final component is price. These days, couples spend approximately 10-20% of their budget on photography. Before asking yourself how much you should allocate for your wedding photographer, gauge the importance & the amount of emphasis your wedding photography will play in remembering your big day. Many couples believe that preserving those memories are the greatest investment they can make.

I’ve heard stories about brides who never meet their photographer before their day. How early will I meet my photographers?

From the very first meeting! As professional photographers, we need to get to know you & your personal style so that we can give you the best images possible. You’ll find that, when you are photographed by somebody who you are familiar with & who knows all about you, the difference in the final product is huge! We will be with you on your journey from your first consultation right through to the album plan & guest orders!

Why do I need a wedding consultation?

We want to get to know you! We’ll talk to you about your day & your ideal photography, go over all the details of your wedding & then create a package specifically for you & your day.

Do you offer a pre-wedding shoot? What if I’m camera shy & nervous?

We definitely offer a free pre-wedding shoot & discounted products for you prior to your wedding day. This helps you get to know the photographer & become more comfortable in front of a camera. It’s also a lovely way to capture your relationship at a more intimate level.
The possibilities are endless & we’re open to suggestion, so the choice is entirely yours.

I’ve been quoted a much lower price. Why should I pay more for my photography?

The most profitable way of doing Wedding Photography is to offer all images on disc for a great price; Your payment is then purely profit to your vendor. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to do that.

All our clients receive a disc, PLUS an album, pre- & post-wedding consultations, 2 photographers on the day, unlimited number of images taken, proofs & a proof box… All for an incredibly reasonable price!

We, ourselves, are married, which means we know exactly what a bride & groom want for their wedding, & we literally devote hundreds of hours to giving them the perfect Wedding Day. We treat your wedding like it’s our own, & we don’t settle for less than Perfect!

Also, keep in mind that we are not committing to only one day of photography, but that the process can easily require anywhere from 80-150 hours of additional work (including consultations, album planning, editing, album compilation etc)!

How far in advance should we have our pre-wedding shoot?

As early as you would like, however if you plan on having the images back before your wedding date, you should allow at least 4-6 weeks prior to the day.

Is it possible to pay off my photography & album?

Absolutely! A 30% booking fee is required to secure your date, & then you can pay off the balance up to 8 weeks before your wedding day. We’ll discuss this with you when you book in.

When do I need to finalise payment?

Final payment must be made at least 8 weeks prior to your wedding date.

Can we upgrade our album after booking the date?

Absolutely! However, keep in mind this will likely include an additional cost. We are very flexible with upgrading your package before the final payment is made; we want your big day to be perfect! To save further hassles & paperwork for you in the wedding lead up we encourage you to take your time to think carefully about your choices, as we are not able to downgrade any packages once a deposit has been made. Take your time & ask as many questions as you’d like. We love to help!

Will you hold our date, or call us if another couple requests our date?

Unfortunately, due to high demand, we can’t reserve your wedding date, unless you have paid a deposit to secure the day.

What happens if we cancel our wedding photography?

If this happens, let us know as soon as possible. We will need written confirmation of your cancellation, but unfortunately all deposits are non-refundable. In the event of cancellation within thirty (30) days of your wedding date, we will still require full payment to be made, as we may have had to turn away other clients who have requested your date. If we are able to re-book the day for another couple, however, you will not be required to pay the full fee.

What is the advantage of having two photographers shooting my wedding day?

There are many advantages! We can literally be in two places at once. Two wedding photographers can shoot from two different angles or locations, capturing all the action. For instance, during the ceremony, we can be shooting both the bride coming down the aisle, as well as the groom’s eyes tearing up. Having two skilled photographers can allow many more details of your wedding to be captured. We include two photographers with every package, as we want to capture every single moment of your day.

How can I be sure the photographers won’t miss something from my day?

Apart from having two photographers to capture your day, we will also discuss your entire wedding with you in advance, from beginning to end, lay out a timeline of the whole day, & list down any shots that are not to be missed!

Do we need to provide a meal for our photographers?

Only if you opt for any additional coverage during the reception, then both photographers will require a meal.

Do you charge extra for travel?

No, we don’t charge any extra for travel within 100km of Perth. If your wedding is held outside 100km of Perth CBD, however, we will require overnight accommodation for both photographers, & a small travel fee. We will discuss this with you when you book in.

Will you ride with us in our limo?

This is entirely up to you! As we have two photographers, we are more than happy to have one ride with you on the way to your ceremony, or if you’d prefer some private time, we can meet you at the location!

I want more than one location shoot. Is that possible?

Yes, this is definitely possible, depending on the location(s) & your choice of coverage. We will discuss this with you during your wedding consultation.

What if it rains on my wedding day?

Weather is one of the factors that cannot be helped on your big day, however, we can work with the circumstances to give you the most beautiful & memorable images. An overcast day can work out really well, as it gives the perfect diffused lighting for a soft & natural look.

Remember, our photographers are very experienced & know how to handle the unexpected. If it’s looking like the weather may be turbulent, we advise that you have a marquee or umbrellas standing by just in case.

What happens if the day runs late? Will we need to pay extra?

We understand that a wedding day’s schedule sometimes runs late. This is why we do not charge per hour, just for the length of coverage required (as per your chosen package. We allow extra time just in case this occurs. You don’t need to pay anything extra if the day does not run right on time, 

however you have the option to request & purchase additional hours of coverage.

What if we decide on the day to keep the photographers a bit longer?

This is not a problem. Just let us know as early as you can. If we are required for additional time throughout the reception, we charge an extra fee per hour, so it may work out cheaper for you to decide on the length of coverage prior to the wedding day.

In the event that we are commissioned on the day for additional coverage, we will require advance payment to the photographers in cash.
If you feel you may need extra coverage on the night, we can advise you of costs prior to the date.

What are proofs?

Proofs are the set of images from your wedding day. At Verge, these are presented as 6″x4″ prints, in a personalised Proof Box!

How quickly will our proofs be ready?

Your proofs & proof box will be ready approx. 2-4 weeks after your album plan. You can then take them home to keep, & also to show to any friends or family who might want to order images for themselves.

Do you offer the images on disc?

Absolutely. Every package includes a Digital Album with all of your images. These are in both thumbnail as well as slideshow format. Additional Digital Albums are available for purchase if necessary.

How involved will we be in planning our album?

You make all the decisions with your album planning! We will be there to advise you on your layout & make the decisions as stress-free as possible, but ultimately the decision is yours.

What if my wedding album gets lost or damaged?

After your album is completed, we archive all of your images, so if anything happens to your album, simply call us & we can arrange to have a copy of your album produced. Unfortunately, we cannot offer this service for free, as we still have to pay our suppliers for the album production. We cannot change any images or layout from your original.

When will we receive our album?

After your album has been approved and editing has been completed, allow approx 12-16 weeks, depending on the album you’ve chosen. We cannot guarantee an exact turnaround time, due to factors beyond our control, however we strive to get all your beautiful products to you in a timely manner.

Do you offer other styles of Photography?
